Seperti biasa, setiap hari Kamis sore kami selalu berkumpul, untuk saling belajar dan berdiskusi. Titik pertemuan awal kami adalah kantin cangkir, yang terletak di kampus UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, Jakarta. Merasa sudah tidak ada lagi yang ditunggu, tepat pukul 16.15 kami pun bergegas menuju KFC Gintung, salah satu tempat alternatif sebagai tempat belajar tutorial dengan tingkat kenyamanan tinggi.
Persiapan berangkat ke KFC
Kali ini, yang berkesempatan menyampaikan ilmunya adalah Evan Fernandez a.k.a Dancing Doll. Lelaki yang karyanya sudah malang melintang di jagad design ini, akan menyampaikan tutorial vector dengan adobe ilustrator part II, sebab minggu lalu Evan sudah menyampaikannya part I, namun para learner masih belum puas, maka para learner pun meminta adanya part II. Turorial part II ini, memfokuskan kepada vector bagian mata, karena pada bagian inilah yang paling sulit.

Lucunya, setiap kali ingin menempati sofa KFC, kami selalu menunggu orang yang duduk di sofa itu pergi, setelah orang yang duduk di sofa itu pergi, dengan segesit mungkin kami langsung pindah ke sofa itu. Setelah kekuasaan sofa itu sudah direbut, maka dimulailah tutorial sang Dancing Doll tepat pukul 16.30. Semua mata tertuju pada laptop dan gerak tangan Dancing Doll. Para learner sangat antusias memperhatikan Evan, laiknya sedang dihipnotis dan hanya terhenti ketika ingin memunaikan kewajiban kami sebagai intelektual muslim.

Sangat gesit dan cepat sekali tangan Evan, tak jarang kami meminta Evan untuk mengulangi kembali langkah-langkahnya. Suasana yang nyaman dan bebas membuat keakraban kami semakin mencair. Tawa, canda, ejekan, pujian dan senyuman selalu menghiasi jalannya penyampaian materi.
Tak terasa sudah lama kami memijakkan kaki di KFC, matahari yang tadinya tersipu malu ingin mengumpat di balik heningnya senja sore, kini ia sudah benar-benar mengumpat. Cahaya lampu kendaraan pun sering memantulkan cahayanya ke arah kami. Merasa sudah larut malam, kami pun mengakhiri tutorial vector part II, pada pukul 19.45. Sebelum meninggalkan lokasi, sejenak kami berdiskusi mengenai, tutorial apa yang akan dibahas minggu depan. Setelah berdiskusi, kami pun memutuskan untuk melanjutkan tutorial vector oleh Dancing Doll part III.
Pandora Squad (PS) nama komunitas kami. Komunitas mahasiswa yang bergelut pada creative visual design. Pandora Squad dibentuk pada tanggal 4 Februari 2010 di kantin Fakultas Ilmu Dakwah dan Ilmu Komunikasi (FIDKOM), yang dimotori oleh Rifani, bersama delapan temannya. Nama pandora Squad sendiri, tidak terikat dengan makna, namun apabila dikaitakan dengan sebuah arti, Pandora berasal dari bahasa Yunani, yang berarti anak perempuan, sedangkan squad diterjemahkan sebagai group atau kelompok yang kuat dan solid.

“Sebelumnya, kami belum pernah bertemu secara langsung, biasanya kami bertemu di dunia maya, tepatnya di Deviantart.com. Setelah diamati, ternyata banyak juga mahasiswa UIN yang berkecimpung di deviantart, karenanya, aku mempunyai usul untuk saling bertemu, khususnya mahasiswa UIN yang doyan design.” Ucap Rifani, salah satu Founder Pandora Squad. “Awalnya tidak ada keinginan untuk membuat sebuah komunitas design, namun setelah kami bertemu dan merasa klop, kenapa tidak pertemuan ini terus berlangsung untuk saling belajar, maka munculah ide untuk membuat sebuah komunitas,” lanjutnya.
Sistem yang dianut oleh PS adalah egaliter, kekeluargaan dan kekerabatan. Tidak ada suatu struktur yang dapat membatasi kami, semuanya prinsipnya sama, ingin belajar. Siapa yang menguasai suatu teknik, maka dia wajib mengajarkannya kepada yang lain. Dengan sistem egealiter tersebutlah, yang menjadikan Pandora Squad menjadi kompak.
“Ya, mau belajar design,” jawab singkat Lulu, anggota baru Pandora Squad ketika ditanya kenapa tertarik dengan PS. “Iya, disini pada jago-jago, dan mereka mau berbagi satu sama lain,” tambah Novi, yang juga merupakan anggota baru Pandora Squad.
Pandora Squad tidak terikat dengan kegiatan kampus atau UKM. Pandora Squad berdiri diluar kampus, walaupun anggotanya adalah para mahasiswa. Siapapun yang ingin belajar, silakan saja bergabung, asalkan memiliki komitmen yang tinggi kepada PS.
Wah menarik kalau ada komunitas desain seperti ini di UIN. Kalau saya masih jadi mahasiswa UIN, saya pasti gabung! Salam kenal.
